Lisa Wooten Has Gotten Serious about Photography
New Anderson Artists Guild member Lisa Wooten grew up in Anderson and graduated from Anderson University with a degree in finance and economics. She worked as a paralegal for eight years at McIntosh Law Firm downtown, doing real estate closings, wills, powers of attorney, and probate matters.
In 2017, she took a job at Bryant Supply, where her responsibilities include customer service and order fulfillment. “I like helping people,” she said. “We work with the older community and people with special needs.”
She has always enjoyed photography but didn’t get serious until 2008, when she bought her first DSLR camera and began to shoot events like engagements to polish her skills.
Last year, she invested in a used Canon 5D Mark III and has accumulated three lenses. She has taken a few classes at Tri-County Tech and now is involved with CreativeLive, an online subscription service that offers affordable classes by professional photographers. “I go at my own pace and am learning a lot,” she said. Among the skills she’s developing are how to use Photoshop and Lightroom, and she’s expanding her clientele for portraits. She’s also taking a lot of nature pictures of flowers, sunsets, and waterfalls. Among her favorite spots are the South Carolina Botanical Garden in Clemson and Anderson’s Caters Lake.
She’s ready to take the next step and enter some juried shows. “I’m stepping out of my comfort zone,” she said.
